Academic AI
Already 32 universities have participated in our ‘Academic AI’ projects on ChatGPT and other Large Language Models (‘LLMs’). With the result of the projects, the Academic AI service, ACOmarket makes LLMs accessible on a secure instance of Microsoft Azure. This means, for example, that ChatGPT can be used without the data entered and documents uploaded leaving the Azure Secure Landing Zone.
In our project, we provide a generic and scalable cloud platform on which ChatGPT and other LLMs can be used without security concerns.
Various other LLMs and AI services are added in regular further development projects.

With the support of its project partners Microsoft Österreich and KPMG Austria, ACOmarket is responsible for setting up the cloud platform and makes it available to universities via its project partner ACOnet.
The Azure Secure Landing Zone was procured by ACOmarket using the OCRE framework agreement so that the participating universities do not have to carry out any procurement procedures.
University users are able to log in to 'Academic AI' with their existing user accounts using single sign-on.
As part of the project, detailed documentation, a transparent billing concept for the settlement of costs between ACOmarket and the universities, a security and data protection concept including ready-to-use contract templates was created.

In the first quarter of 2024, in consultation with the participating universities, the functionality and a corresponding framework architecture were defined on the basis of user groups and use cases, and the features of the basic version 1.0 were prioritised.
Following the development of the ‘Version 1.1’ upgrade with a RAG module, e.g. for course chatbots, Version 2.0 of the Academic AI cloud platform is currently in the process of being completed, while Version 3.0 is already being designed. Academic AI is available to all ACOnet participants for a usage-based monthly fee.
