GitLab

In a partnership with GitLab, starting at the end of January 2024, ACOmarket has been offering the use of GitLab tools with their top licence (Ultimate) to Austrian universities at particularly favorable 'academic' conditions.

As an online service for software development and version management for software development projects, GitLab offers, among other things

  • a Continuous Integration & Delivery (CI/CD) system,
  • a container registry and management and monitoring for multi-clusters
  • a security scanner for program codes and containers,
  • an issue tracking system including a Kanban board and
  • a wiki.

While the GitLab Community Edition has been developed as open source software and private and public repositories are hosted free of charge, with its Enterprise Edition GitLab Inc. offers a paid version for companies. GitLab can be operated on premise ('self-managed') and is alternatively available as Software as a Service (SaaS). Integration into e.g. AWS or Google Cloud and remote control via API is possible.
